One of our students, Charlotte Leatherbarrow was tragically killed in a road traffic accident on Herne Hill on 17th March 2011.  Charlotte will be greatly missed by her teachers and friends at SLDS for many years to come.

Charlotte’s family have set up a charity in her name which is intended to enable young performers in the arts and entertainment who don’t have the financial means, to perform to the best of their potential and with distinction in their character.  They will accomplish this through giving financial assistance where it is needed and offering grants to pay for the successful applicants’ tuition in the performing arts.  Successful applicants will also be a part of a mentoring program with access to workshops and master classes hosted by seasoned professionals.

The young performers will be taken through an application process and must be aged between 8 – 18 years.

South London Dance Studios will be donating the proceeds from the February 2012 Presentation of Class Work to the Foundation as well as holding other fund raising events.  If you have any fundraising ideas for South London Dance Studios to hold to raise money for the Foundation, please contact the SLDS office.  Also, we continue to have our second hand uniform sale in aid of the Foundation in the waiting room at the studios.  If you have any old uniform to sell, please refer to the posters in the waiting room to find out how to go about it.
